About the Role
The manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the operations of a 6-shed Breeder Production farm, including:
managing a team of people and their safety
bird welfare and animal husbandry for fertile egg production
onsite biosecurity
Duties
Co-ordination of all farm activities for the achievement of short and long-term business objectives.
monitoring alarms and coordinating replacements when you are not available.
Lead your team to undertake specialist tasks including bird health, feeding, egg grading, monitoring shed conditions etc.
Undertake serological monitoring and ensure that all medications are administered as required and in the appropriate manner.
Ensure all farm administration duties are performed in accordance with Darwalla guidelines, including the completion of all relevant reports and documentation within specified timeframes.
Grow and lead your team to develop them, maintain team harmony and Darwalla values.
You will collaborate with your colleagues at other farms to continuously improve and report directly to the Breeder Operations Manager. It is a full-time permanent position, living on-site in a fully maintained company house. You will be expected to respond to shed alarms and work some weekends.
About the Farm
Our 6-shed breeder production farm is a modern farm 10 minutes outside Allora, on the Southern Darling Downs in South-East Queensland.
About you
The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
Previous poultry experience is required
Conversant with animal welfare standards, legislative obligations and Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures
Experience operating shed controllers and automated egg collecting machines
Self-motivated, demonstrated effective time management skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Experience leading a team safely and according to our values, allocating tasks to meet departmental objectives
Strive to meet industry “best practice” standards and to continuously improve
Decision making and problem solving skills
Excellent communication skills
